Product Description

AIM

: For comparing the densities of liquids by measuring the heights of the two columns of liquid produced by applying suction to the short centre limb.

THEORY

To compare the densities of two liquids by means of Hare's apparatus

In chapter 9 we saw how the relative density of a liquid can be found by the use of a density bottle. The following method for measuring the relative density of a liquid is based on the pressure exerted by a liquid column. The apparatus consists of two vertical wide-bore glass tubes connected at the top by a glass T-piece. These tubes dip into beakers containing the two liquids of densities PI and P2

CONSTRUCTION

  • Comprising a three-limbed glass tube, with 250 mm of rubber tubing on the centre limb, mounted on a stand with a scale 61 cm long with the zero at the bottom.
  • Glass tube is  placed on the stand in such a way that Glass Beaker can be placed under the opening of the tube .
  • The liquid filled in beaker rises in the glass tube and the reading can be noted down of each glass tube separately .
  •  Overall dimensions base size: 12” x 6”
  • Vertical Board: 24” height and 7” width
  • Glass tube 18” U tube + 6 “ total length of tube 24”
