FORTIN’S BAROMETER

It is an instruments, which is used to measure the atmospheric pressure. We will describe here only the Fortin's Barometer which is commonly used.

THEORY

• Most Accurate Instrument for Measuring the Atmospheric  Pressure at any place from sea level to Hills.
• It can be manufactured to work under sea level or at a very high Altitude against specific order.
• A superior pattern standard mercury barometer suitable for altitudes upto 600 meters.

CONSTRUCTION

• Glass tube                 The barometer has a nominal bore of 7mm.
• Scale                         Engine divided silvered scales covering 675 to 810mmHg. graduated in inches &  mm are read by Vernier moving by Rack &                                         pinion to 1/200 in & 1/10mm & areenclosed in glass cylinder
• An acrylic  cylinder at the lower end of the barometer is provided with an ivory point to which the level of the mercury in the cistern is adjusted                                            before readings are taken.,
• Thermometer         Complete with 10 to 50 deg. C thermometer is mounted on a polished baseboard complete with hanging plates.  Installation at                                         Extra.
