Product Description
AIM
The light interference phenomenon is observed as Newton's Rings. The various optical accessoriesused in the observations are studied. A travelling microscope is used to determine the diameter of the rings. The ring number versus square of the ring diameter plot gives a straight line. From theslope of the straight line the radius of curvature of the plano-convex lens used for producingNewton's rings is determined.
PROCEDURE
- A glass plate and a lens is fitted to experimental rod A.
- The Newton Ring lens adjustable by 3 screws.
- On applying load at point, the rod C bends slightly.
- Experiment rod carries 2 metal plates at different point increasing the distance between the plat and the lens.
- Newton's rings are observe before applying the load.
- As the load applied gradually the rings run into the centre, disappearing one at a time.
- Microscope is provided for viewing the ring with cast iron weights set of 500 gm With out weights
